Dr. Fowler started this practice as an alternative to the traditional Pediatric Clinic model with includes lengthy wait times, mounds of paperwork, confusing Insurance rules, and lack of available time with the doctor. Her goal is to provide each child with a unique experience focusing on their individual needs which includes wellness planning, nutrition, physical activities, social and academic interventions, and lifestyle advice.
However, she also wants to help encourage and motivate parents through local resource guides, community events, and office consults.
Dr. Fowler went back to college fulltime at age 28, attending the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with Asia emphasis. Her minor was Biology and Pre-med Studies. She attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She was the class historian all four years and has kept photos and journals from her classmates which are some our favorite local doctors. Dr. Fowler attended pediatric residency at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, a branch of Texas A&M Health Science Center. This gives her special status as both a Longhorn and an Aggie.
Dr. Fowler took a position as a primary care physician with Cook Children's at their McCart Community Clinic where she saw sick walk-ins, well checks, Medicaid, private insurance, and used her bilingual abilities to reach a Spanish population. She also moonlighted in the Cook Children's Urgent Care Center, eventually transferring to Cook Children's Northeast Hospital where she worked in the ER and Urgent Care center. During this time, she got great reviews from patients and got to know most of the local pediatricians and specialists located throughout the Cook Children's Network.
Dr. Fowler then accepted a position as the Medical Director of two new Pediatric Urgent Care centers in Tarrant County called Urgent Care for Kids. She was instrumental in the formation of their policies, services, vendor accounts, staffing, and electronic medical record keeping as well as being the clinical consultant for their laboratory and x-ray studies. While working with Urgent Care for Kids, Dr. Fowler suffered a heart condition which made her realize the importance of providing quality care to patients. She prefers to see less patients to provide a standard of excellence while maintaining a heart healthy balanced lifestyle.
